The situation

Rotaract clubs have a large pool of young members looking for work, and Rotary's members run businesses that hire. Nothing connected the two in a trusted way. The client wanted a private, verified job market that a student, an HR team and a club administrator could each use without training.

I hired material lab for building a verified hiring marketplace from scratch. We didn't want just another basic job board. We needed a complete hiring pipeline, from sign-ups to interviews that students, HR teams, and admins could all pick up and use immediately without needing a tutorial.

They completely owned it from day one. On the front end, they designed a highly intuitive web app with AI resume parser, job matching scoring system and a threaded message board to chat with HR directly. They designed a 4-step job posting wizard, candidate search and matching, interview scheduling and a recruitment pipeline to track candidates for each job. They delivered full governance tools, including student directories, job approvals with branded email invites, team management, analytics, and bulk imports. They built cross-tenant oversight for org and student approvals, along with platform-wide reporting and event tracking.

Because the platform is so smooth to navigate, we actually managed to onboard over 50 employers just during our private beta, way ahead of our public launch. Material Lab acts as true product partners. If you need a team that can handle heavy technical complexity but still deliver something people actually enjoy using, I couldn't recommend them more.

What we did

Three journeys, zero friction.

We set a North Star before any screen: one clear action per screen, WCAG AA, and layouts that work from 375px up. Creating a profile, posting a job and applying were protected above everything else.

A résumé that writes itself.

Students upload a résumé and it becomes a structured profile, or AI writes one from scratch and tailors it to each application.

Hiring in one place.

Employers post roles, review applicants, schedule interviews and message candidates in the HR portal.

The RTB page for employers on a phone, headed Hire verified Rotaract talent, with verified affiliation, early-career talent and Rooted in Rotary, and a Hire Rotaract talent button.

Built to scale safely.

The complete Spring Boot + Supabase backend handles organisations, roles, notifications and identity checks. A design system enforces accessibility contrast in CI, so it can't quietly regress.
